Hi Geordiepind. As you are near Durham, take a drive up to United British Caravans in Sandy Lane, Wideopen. ( It is opposite Gosforth Park Racecourse)
They have about 50 tents pitched on the front of their forecourt, so if you cant see something there to suit your needs then it probably doesn't exist !!!!!
(Hmmm.... wonder if they will give me a discount for all the times I have told people to go there ???)

Also visit CW Tents at Backworth, near Ashington. I bought my latest tent there, they have a good display outside at weekends and I have not seen mine cheaper anywhere else. Check their website for directions.
We just got the Vango Oregon TBS 800. Had a look round it at an exhibition so knew it was right for us. Loads of room in it and we are 2 adults and two kids. Can't wait to try it out in September

We bought a Coleman Columbus 8, meant that we had plenty of space and the 2 kids get their own sleeping pods... a must for our sanity
Used it 3 times now over the last 5 weeks, easy up, easy down, and survived a real wind and rain lashing on a coastal site at Swanage last weekend with no leaks or other problems.
But I would do as suggested above, go to a good display and see what you think fits for your needs. We did this, and we had great fun for an hour or two (as did the kids) looking in and out of many and various tents... until the urge to spend got too great and we had to make a choice.
