Hello - I must sympathise with you folks who keep getting asked the same dumb questions, but here's mine:

There are four of us, budget is not a factor, we want a good tent, easy to errect, as bomb-proof as possible and lots of room.

We've narrowed it down to:

  • Vango Diablo 900
  • Aztec Cantera 9
  • Wild Country Halo 104

What say you?

Thanks in advance.

Personally, with this style of dome tent I would base my decision first on the direction you are going to sleep in the bedrooms - is it side on to the slope or head-toe facing the slope. To me, the latter is preferable as it means someones does not get the low end of the bedroom, which cna be a bit claustrophobic.

I would therefore rule out the Cantera on this basis and choose between the Halo or Diablo. I have not seen a Halo pitched, so can't comment too much on it, however, it does look the best in the bedroom size (oo'errr...).

It is worth nothing that this is a very popular design, and there are many others similar, and well trusted, in this shape, inc. Kyham Breckenridge/Nebraska, Outwell Hartford and Wynnsters (forgoten models).

If you decided that you wanted a bit more bedroom height then also look at an Outwell Nebraska, Sunncamp Tourist and Wynnster Anntares. Noting that the Nebraska has also the advantage of pitching outer first (good if it is raining) and a SIG.

One thing that might sway you is the end of season bargains - Diablos were selling well at around £250 last year, so you may pick one of those up, which would be an excellent bargain.

and also the royal biarritz 9, if you like the diablo, as the diablo is reported to have saggy bedroom pods, and the biarritz apparently doesnt.

Hi I have just bought the Outwell Hartford XL & took it for a test run, I am over the moon with it, Love it Love it,

There where 3 couples in our group we all had our own bedroom nice &  privately spaced apart, There is loads of living space with lots of headroom, We also bought the canopy which provided ample room to cook & even had enough space for our table & chairs without overcrowding, We are off again next weekend .I have been camping since i was a child am now 50 next year & this is the best tent I have ever owned or been in.& It looks the Biz on the capsite as well
