i am on the hunt for a new tent and want to narrow down my choices so can anyone recommend a tunnel tent for 6 or 8 with a full SIG we tend to spend about 3 weeks  in the tent in the summer  so cost doesn't really matter as we are going for so long i want a decent tent and am happy to pay for it. the tent needs enough room for 4 and a dog to all sit comfortably if we have a downpoor and perhaps a canopy

Outwell Bear lake and Norfolk Lake, as poly cotton tents, would definately be on my shortlist to view.

I will let others better informed to cover the lieks of Cabanon, Relum etc.

As for Synthetics, you have a lot of choice:

  • Aztec Cantera
  • Coleman Magellan & Columbia
  • Gelert Vancouver & Quebec
  • Khyam/Campus Breckenridge
  • Outwell Montana, Sunvalley, Nebraska & Hartford
  • Royal Biarritz
  • Sunncamp Vario, Haven, Mondial, Typoon, Oasis & Tourist
  • Vango Diablo, Aspen & Aurora
  • Wynnster Hawk & Cygnus
  • Wild Country Halo

Hi.

We have a sunncamp family vario 900 tunnel and love it for the space in the living area and roomy bedrooms which you can stand up in. However, you will notice elsewhere on here that we have a problem with leaks which hopefully have been resolved with seam sealer, so you should note this really. Having said that I still wouldn't swap it as its so versatile with the annex which gives two additional bedrooms. We have endured three storms with the annex attached, with wind, and had no problems. The leaking problem occured when we used it without the annex, but other half is away at mo and had a storm yesterday. Despite not having the annex attached, it didn't leak so good news so far. We've got a dog and she seems to like it as there's masses of room. Also, it's easy to pitch, our nine year olds can manage with one adult to help and it takes half hour or so to get the main tent up. For us, it's the mut's nuts!!!

just purchased an Outwell Sun Valley 8 and camped for the first time in it this w/e on the Gower. great tent. will easily accomodate you, dog and furniture...also, saw another one on the site that had a canopy out front to extend it. looked really good and will be my next purchase.

had some strong wind on the sunday night, but it was fine.

Jamet Roma 6 tunnel tent, OutdoorMEgastore.com £210 -ish.

Love ours, sleeps 6, so me and OH in middle pod, one kid in each of other two. Loads of room in living area, sig in sleep pods but not in living area, however skirt around base of tent so no problems at all. Slight leak on some seams, but solved with sealant.

Hope this helps!!

Happy camping!

The sunncamp Vario 600 plus  has massive living space and stowage. We use the 500 for the two of us and its plenty big enough.

http://www.sunncamp.co.uk/tents/familyvario900/familyvario900.html also has full spec for other varios. Most have full SIG and if you use bedroom annexes you can leave out rooms in main tent and have one HUGE space.
