So, I've fnally got and erected my sv9, on tenter hooks cos of the problems I've read. And unfortunately I have got a groundsheet problem, but don't know if it's just me being thick or not.

It is raised in lots of places, practically all over. particularly stressed by right hand read bedroom, so concerned that the top toggles will break quite easily. Also difficult to do up the bedroom door becasue of this.

It's also raised by the smalled removeable bedroom, so right in the very centre of the tent. Not sure that that can be because of me being rubbish putting up the tent? Opinions?

By the poles, especially rear red one it's really raised and no matter how much I've tried to fiddle with /readjust/move the pole I can't improve it.

Does this sound like the problems other poeple have had? I really don't want to send it back unless necessary, it'll be a lot of agro.

By the way, I found getting the poles in and getting the thing upright to be really difficult and it took me ages - can anyone give me tips on how  to do this a bit better? thank you

sorry, no, it's an sv8. just going mad. On the right, the bottom of the tent is in line with the ground, but on the left, it doesn't reach the ground, stopping a good 2-3" short of the ground. This means the groundsheet is also 2-3" shy of the ground, not just at one point, but pretty much all over. Even if I've pitched it stupidly, the fact it doesn't reach the floor can't be my fault, surely, the flysheet is at full stretch. It's like the poles are just too long.

Ernst, I went to an indoor display yesterday, where the Montana 12 was pitched on a level, wooden floor. The tension on the porch side caused the SIG to be raised considerably off the floor, which in turn lifted the bedroom inner. If anyone walked close to this side, the tension was considerably increased and it pulled on the flysheet; it was impossible to stand on the groundsheet immediately inside the doorway as it was so high off the floor.

Remember, this was a display tent, pitched by experienced people on a flat level floor.

Surely this must be a design fault, rather than the result of pitching error? If this sounds like what is going on with the SIG area of your SV8, then you might have to think about returning it?

We came very close to purchasing a SV8 end-of-season 'bargain', but ultimately decided against. Outwell, and some retailers, might claim there has been no necessity for recall of their products this year, but their problems do seem to be pretty widespread and too extensive to dismiss (for us, anyway.) The UKCS threads have really illustrated this, so a big thanks to all who posted their experiences.

It sounds to me like a design fault.

We had that sort of problem with our nebraska although Mitchells at Wakefield didn't seem to think it was a problem that's just how it was. We did for various reasons sell our nebraska and buy a bargin SV8. This time the groundsheet lay well on the ground and the bedroom pods would actually reach the ground!

Hi our problem was not as severe as yours but we did have problems with the elastic toggles on the bedrooms and could do not do up one side.  We took it back and swapped it - I am quite finickity about faults and would worry that others would develop if they couldn't get it right at manufacture.  Be wary though of your replacement - we are now on awaiting a new 2007 SV8 (after 4 faulty ones).
