Hi
I'm looking for a pop up type tent for my 9 year old son to use next summer, can anyone recommend a particular type or does anyone know of any bargains to be had at the moment?
Edited to add - its a proper tent I'm looking for, not a play tent
Many thanks

I have used a Tesco tent for the last 2 seasons. It is very easy to set up, all the poles are in, like a light weight Khyam. You stand in the doorway and pop it up like and umbrela then peg it out and put the flysheet on, it took us 15 mins max. They sell as 5 man tents but I used it for myself and dog, very cosy and stood up to some realy bad weather.
Hi Sprocket, hubs and i use a decathlon 3 second tent for one night stopovers when touring. We think its good value for money and we've been very happy with it. It's stood up well to Scottish Highland and Islands weather . It really does only take seconds to pitch, but you have to practise first to learn the knack of packing away, then that just takes seconds too.
Hope this helps

Deifently reccomend a quechua tent I have the two person xl plent of room for a large airbed and storage plus a small porch for cooking gear etc they are really easy to put up u just throw them in the air and they r up just don't let go if it's really windy, getting it back in the bag takes a bit of practice and when you start to fold it up you think you are going to break the pole but that is how you are suppose to fold it, unfortunatly you can no longer buy these tents online but they are available from decathalon stores there is one in Dudley Merry hill and they have loads in stock hope this helps oh and Happy Camping!
Another recommendation for the Quechua 2 or 3 second tent here; pitch and pack up at the speed of light (as stated, do practice packing; not difficult but there is a knack) and ours have stood up to some fierce rain and winds in France without any problems. Really good value for money!

We have the Outwell Jersey which is the same as the Quecha 3 second jobby and used it as our overnight tent on the way to and from the Alps this year. Very cosy but highly practical.

Totally reccomend KHYAM. Had a 3 person dome one (forgot model) for approx 15 yrs. Was expensive at the time but now are relatively cheaply priced. Binned it at the end of this season, It finally gave up the Ghost after years of excellent service. Cant beat chucking it up (literally) and 2 mins to dismantle. I think I am talking myself into getting another.
We have 3 of the Quechua ones, bought from Decathlon. We bought two '2 second' ones as soon as they were released, and have since also acquired a '2 second XL'
I would heartily recommend this design of tent for ease of pitching. Packing takes a little longer, and has been mentioned earlier in the thread, you'll need to practice :) .
We've stayed in the '2 second's during thunderstorms and heavy downpours, and stayed bone dry. The only down-side is that when you open the zip, water does drip in. This doesn't happen with the XL as it has a porch!
The Outwell, Gelert and Millets are all 'copies' of the Quechua 2-second tent, and may be more easily available if you don't live near one of the Decathlon stores.
Hi just got an Outwell Jersey from Barons for £40 rrp£60, saw it at caravan show in the Docklands for £50, got it for my son as well. bought it earlier in Dec.
Good choice Paul, we paid just over £40 for ours back in June. We used it to overnight in whilst driving down to the Alps and back. Stayed at the municipal site in Troyes, job done.
