Hi there! We were all set to buy a new Khyam Ultimate Classic this coming weekend, but have found a shop selling brand new Rigi-Pod Exelciors including 2 bedroom pods for £360. I know that the Rigi-Pods are now discontinued but I have seen a few whilst camping and have always been impressed with the modular design and I prefer the colour! Would we run into problems should we ever need spares for this tent? If anyone has any experience of either tent it'd be great to hear from you!

We have got a Ridgi-pod classic, and it is excellent, and in response to the last post we got ours from Aspinall's and they were excellent, and it was £200 less than list price!
Its indeed aspinalls! I have read both the positive and negative comments about them and would probably be willing to risk it!!! It's the the tents themselves that i'd be interested in hearing about, I love the idea of being able to make the rigi-pod bigger or smaller depending on how many people are with us, but would like to know i'd have the aftersales support of kyham despite the tent being discontinued!

Hi, We have just bought the Khyam Ultimate Classic from Somerset Camping at the moment they are on sale at £395 for the tent and £36 for the footprint ground sheet with free delivery. All are new not seconds, I would phone them first as there website still shows it at £420.

Thanks Neil! If we go for the Ultimate Classic we'll get it from Somerset Camping. Have you pitched your tent yet? If yes, what are your thoughts?
Thanks for the info Will! The XXL Excelsior wasn't one of the models we were considering, although that sounds like a pretty good deal - would it be the 2007 (blue) model that you would be selling?
Finally back to the Ridgi-Pod, which is the one I really like! I've read a lot of the threads good and bad about this tent, my main concern being the condition in which some people have recieved theirs! Were Khyam having a few quality control issues when these were manufactured, and what is the likelihood of the tent arriving in a less than perfect condition?

Have now taken the plunge and ordered the Ridgi-Pod Excelsior from Aspinalls! First impressions of Aspinalls was very good, the lady I spoke seemed to have genuine knowledge of the tent and assured me that they were brand new boxed stock and if there were any probs they would give a full refund! I did pay by credit card though just in case!!!
Looking forward to it arriving either tomorrow or Friday, and snow permitting will pitch over the weekend!

I received the tent from Aspinalls on Friday, however upon opening the package discovered that they had only sent the 2 bedroom pods and no main tent! Alarm bells were ringing, so I called Aspinalls who said that they would look in to it and not to worry, they would sort it out! Sure enough the doorbell rang on Saturday morning and it was an apologetic man from ANC (the couriers) with the rest of our tent which had been 'mislaid at the depot!'
Managed to do a rough pitch of the tent yesterday just to check for damage and all was fine. It's flippin' huge though!!!
I appreciate that people have had problems with Aspinalls in the past but the service I received (and especially the price) was first class!
