I looked at the Oregan 8 but went for the Khyam because of the Hydrostratic. 5000 on the Khyam compared with only 2000 on the Vango. The Vango has a Tension Band System though. So do you want to be wet or more stable. I figured if you pitch it properly stability is not an issue. I hate being wet though!

We bought the canopy and yes it attaches over the top the Ontario with two ropes. The only problem is even a small breeze catches between the canopy where it goes over the tent and causes a numatic noise. It would of been better if the design had a central rope over the tent to stop this lifting effect.
But yes its worth the money, get one.
P.S.
Delta pegs are a good idea unless you like a kite conversion.
Has anyone encountered a problem with pitch sizes for the Ontario 8? I think I read somewhere that some sites won't accept tents over 7m. I'm really torn between the Ontario 8 and the Oregon 800 but don't want to limit where I can pitch it.

I have the Indiana 8 which is the same tent minus SIG, and i've never had a problem finding sites to accept us. Just one refused saying we'd have tohave two pitches but as itwas a basic site... just toilets and showers, not even a shop and £20 a night I politley refused. There is a sticky thred about sites accepting larger tents, but as i said I've not had a problem.
One more thing.. those who were asking about a door at the end, our Indiana does have one at the end, but to use it you can not use the bedroom pod. Don't know if the Ontario is identical in this matter or not.
We bought the Ontario because our Gelert Tahoma was being refused due to it size.
So far this year not one site has refused a booking based on the size of the Ontario. We are aware that there are a few, but even the Caravan & Camping Club accept this tent.
Because of its narrow design, even with the canopy its under 5m wide.
As a rule we do inform camp sites of the 7.5m length, but so far no one has turned us away.
