We went to the NEC today (thanks for free tickets) with all intentions of looking at the Nebraska xxl and the vermont xl and ended up buying the Vermont  XL ,, Plus points great living area very good size porch which completly zips up. All doors and windows come with fly screens.you can completly open the whole of the front making a huge porch and the 3 porch poles are supplied,Also there is a side door on each side . Only one down side for us that is the bedroom sizes, There is a double,, a four , and a single , we think that the single is to small for anyone except a small child to sleep in.there is also a wardrobe but we personally would not use it , it takes quite a bit of space in the living area

 Nebrsaka XXl  Plus points. 2 great bedrooms can sleep up to 4 in each nice size living area ,downside , small porch no fly screens

I also had a look at the Vermont XL (at our local store, not at the NEC, sadly) and have to agree with you about that third, single, bedroom inner.

I know that some people rave about the Vermont, but why on earth Outwell didn't make the middle bedroom inner a three berth - to make the third inner a good double - is beyond me!

Well done on an excellent decision. We also bought a Vermont XL from Yeomans at the NEC today.

We were looking at the Nebraska XL and the Vermont L or XL but decided that whilst the bedrooms layouts were much better, the porch of the Nebraska was not big enough for us. We were also nervous after the horror stories of the 2006 Nebraskas. The Vermont L was not quite wide enough to sleep 5 in comfort on airbeds so we ended up with the XL almost by default. We loved the Vermont range however.

We would also have preferred better bedroom layouts - either 2+3+2 or maybe even an equal spread of 3 x 150cm for us (which wouldn't be ideal for sleeping 7). We may well see if we can modify the bedroom. Maybe there is an opportunity for custom made or alternative inners?

Anyway we loved the wardrobe which will probably house our Porta Potti as well, and the amount of very useful space. We realised that half of the front section could be opened if you wish and the door between porch and living area can be half or full width too so it will be very flexible in many different types of weather and usage, If you took the wardrobe out you could have a huge living space for entertaining if you wished.

We were also blown away by the space in the porch - we will set up the kitchen on one side and table and chairs on the other and still have loads of space to walk through. We don't mind cooking in the porch either as the two side doors can be used in the event of a major mishap.

Our only reservation is the sheer size of this tent - it's huge! I hope we have no problems with pitch sizes. Our first trip is with C&CC at Cardigan Bay who can only accomodate up to 7.9 metres so at 7.7 metres plus guys we are right on the limit.

PS Did you notice how the Peakland tents by the Nebraskas were not standing up to the winds very well today?

Which goes to show it is indeed best to go view a tent display when the weather is a bit wild, and not just when the sun is shining....

Glad to hear you got sorted with a new tent, BrummyGit, and hope all goes well with the Vermont XL. By the way, did you invest in either footprint groundsheet or a snazzy carpet? Do you know if the footprint extends into the front porch area, or is it just the size of the living/bedroom area, which has the SIG? (This is a topic of another thread, but just interested to know and thought you might have the answer!)

I didn't, but will probably buy at least the carpet if not both of them. I never thought to ask about the footprint size until I read the other thread - DOH!

Guess ill throw my fave question of yesterday in here too...

Im looking for lived in pics of the vermont XL to get an idea what its like in use, we have already had our Nebraska xl replaced with the vermont XL but dont have a chance to try it yet.

We still have not seen it in the flesh only the standard outwell pic which is displayed everywhere..
