I’m fairly newish to camping. I need something to replace my battered and broken vango venture 500. (which was rubbish and collapsed in the slightest of winds) . I need something that will stand up in the wind as it will be used on some exposed sites and needs enough room for 4 adults as it will be used in the rain to. My budget is up to £350 if I can get something I know will last a few years.

I’m thinking of either a Montana 6 or Sun Valley 6 as I’ve heard loads of good reports about outwell and the tents seems really good quality.

But I really like the Blacks Tucana which seems to have a lot more features and seems really good value at £220 when the others are nearly £100 more.

Any advise?

Hi

I would say go and see them up. If your looking at spending that sort of money you really need to get in them.

If you let people know where your from im sure you will get plenty of info where a good display can be found in your area.

Regards

I’m in Bury, North Manchester. I’ve seen the Montana up at Winfields and at the out door show. I’ve never seen the sun valley and blacks don’t display the Tucana because of its size.

You may want to have at look at Go outdoors in stockport ( only 20 min max round m60), they have some on display in the shop in Radcliffe (cant remember name), Camperlands is also not to far on M60.

The tucana has an intereasting LED light thing going on, whats all that about, with an extra switch in the bedroom? Never heard of anything like it before

I would say the Monty is fab, but then I am just a tinsey bit biased. Seriously the monty has the higher hydrostaic head at 5000mm, the tucana only 3000mm, but that is still average and will cope very well with english weather.

I would defo agree try and see them all in the flesh.
