  I think he had a point Stuart,after all whatever comes out of an Essexman's mouth can hardly be called English. Even those from Wishaw are more eloquent (if you can hear them over the noise of the little bells ).

Brilliant, we put a small one up when we moved in here and the old lady at the back claimed her husband fell off the chair the first time it lit up, and would I kindly aim it down please. It ended up lighting up just the patio door and she still reckoned it was too bright

The ironic thing is that the brighter the security light, the less efficient it is in deterring thieves.

The brilliant glare creates pitch black shadows which help anyone trying to creep up.

A 100 - 150w bulb is sufficient but it does seem to be a macho thing

When Kennedy visited Macmillan at Birch Grove the gardens were so well lit from the house that you couldn't see the house from the garden - it was just the brightness of the light. Designed so that the security guards could see anyone approaching but they couldn't see them.
