As we now have 20 miles of Cyclepaths alongside the A555
Manchester Airport to Hazel Grove
And the New A523 Poynton Relief Road .
I went for a cycle to Woodford
Cycled from Handforth 1Km to go on A555 cyclepath going West .
Then out onto country lanes.
Hall moss
Blossoms ,Church lane
to pickup the A523 Poynton Relief Road .
Called .....
(Sir Roy Chadwick Way)
Cycled out to Adlington Golf course Roundabout, then back to a bridge over the bypass.
Checked out the Panoramic views of the Cheshire plain Lyme park ,The Bowstones, and Macc forest
Then headed south off-road on Tracks trails and fields leading to the Old Woodford Airfield .
Came out in an old concrete service road .
To come to the Highlight of my day out .
The Awesome Sight of the Ginormous Massive
Avro XM603
Vulcan Bomber ,
One of our Old V-Force Aircraft
on Its Stand
Outside Woodford Air Museum
Fantastic .
It made my day
Especially as I've been Interested in Aircraft for years
(Aircraft spotting at Manchester Airport near where I Live )
Had a look around the outside of the Museum and seen an Old Nimrod
Surveillance Airplane .
And noted other Aircraft History .
The Story of Sir Roy Chadwick The designer of the Lancaster bomber .
Then cycled away through Woodford Garden Village built on the Old Aerodrome Airfield Runway .
Back onto the country lanes and A555 cyclepath and home
Lovely day out pootling nice easy 25 Km
no rain on a nice sunny warm day

That sounds a lovely ride. Can you suggest anywhere we could park to pick up that trail? Coming from north Manchester.

An excellent ride is the cycle path from Manchester to Liverpool, done it several times.
There is also a good ride around the Wirral peninsula.

Yes Martin I agree
The Middlewood trail is Great for a cycle ride and return via the Macclesfield canal
and there are places to Explore and stop off for Cafes .
Going off the trail at Nelson's Pit
( An Old Coal mining area)
at Higher Poynton
Head up to the Macclesfield canal at the Marina .
Is a nice spot for a Break
At Bailey's Trading Post
A Cafe and has lots of Local Information .
Sitting outside
Whilst watching the Boats go by
Lovely Relaxing place
And take in the Views of the Hills
and Lyme park .
Cycling on to Bollington
village there is
Adelphi mill ,Marina and boatyard
Also a lovely view from the Middlewood way on the Viaduct of Bollington
And The Famous Landmark of White
Nancy
There Is So much Interesting places to See and Great variety of Terrain .
Having Walked NCW (North Cheshire Way)
and Cycled
The Middlewood trail
And The Macclesfield Canal
Over a Many Years
Beautiful Area for Scenery
It's well recommended for Days out

Yesterday took train to Chester and cycled along disused railway towards Shotton, then followed cycle path up to Neston where we joined the Wirral Circular trail all the way round to Hooton where we took the train to Chester then home.
Done this route 3 times now in both directions, this being the first on an ebike.
It was - 6 C when we left home and didn't appear to get much warmer. 61 miles home to home.

Zigzag, as you like aircraft. If you haven't already been ,the RAF Museum at Cosford is well worth a visit. Not too far from you. Its full of interesting aircraft including all 3 V bombers. Mainly inside but some.outside
Entry is free you just pay to park just book a slot to visit online.

We often visit, I was in the RAF for 24 years and they have some of the ones I worked on there. Cosford is where they train RAF aircraft trades. I spent a lot of time there,in training and latterly as an instructor.
The museum is on the airfield adjacent to the training camp.

Cosford is an excellent day out, we cycled there from Shrewsbury following National Cycle route 81, we got a bit lost between Wellington & Telford due to poor signage (or we missed them) If you travel to Cosford by bike you don't have to pay car park charges, and it's free to enter the museum.
We rode on to Albrighton for a pint before catching train back to Shrewsbury and on to Gobowen. We plan a revisit later in year.

That sounds ideal for us. Perhaps we will head that way this year. It is a 2 day trip for us from the south coast, but sounds very interesting.

I was talking CL and other small sites such as White Pump Farm which has loos and showers, others on/near the A5 and Kiddemore Green near Brewood, all nearer than Bridgnorth. Whitegate Farm CL, straight in off the A5, has loos and showers. We have stayed at all of them en route to/from Wales.
