We went to Fort George and right at the end of the Fort there was a spot called 'Dolphin Walk' or something like that. We stood there all alone and there were loads of dolphins which proceeded to give us a personal display of their beauty.
I saw dolphins as we walked along the front at Silloth in north west Cumbria. But it was only fleeting. It was a first time also for our friends, who've lived there all their lives!!!
If you do go to see the dolphins in the Moray Firth make sure you go to the "Cloutie Well" near Munlochy. This is a strange slightly sinister place where there are rags tied to trees for as far as the eye can see, each piece of cloth represents a prayer or a wish for good health. We noticed this from the road and stopped to look, it was interesting and a little bit unsettling. Apparently there are sites like this all around the world so must be very very old practice.

Bit late with this post but if anyone is still looking for dolphins in Scotland, & more particularly Aberdeen as the OP enquired about, they certainly can be seen in Aberdeen (in the sea that is) too.
We spent over an hour watching a huge amount of them hunting fish (they were working as a team driving the fish) at the Torry Battery some years back. Should think they can still be seen around coast of Aberdeen if your'e lucky enough to be ther at the right time. Farther up the Moray coast is more reliable though.
saw them at Cromerty point this year 2 days running. was totally amazing. got photos of them breaching and fish being thrown in the air.most of the time they are just swimming around a few meters off shore and then it gets exciting as they start hunting.you need to spend a few hours there at high tide. definately reccomend a thermos and warm clothing.
I was so lucky to see Dolphins In North Wales, Talybont (nr Barmouth) It was truly amazing. Have been to the Moray Firth what a beautiful area but sadly didn't see any Dolphins.
it has to be fort george i was a serving soldier at the fort and any day all year round you could sit and watch them for hours. we live 20 miles north of aberdeen by the coast and ive only seen them once here
