North Yorks is a big area & the roads are not all that great.  You are looking at around 2 hours each way to say the Forbidden Corner or Fountains Abbey (two of my favourite places).  It is a good hour and a half to York.  Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay, N Yorks Moors Railway, Dalby Forest, coastal footpath, are all fantastic.  Have a good visit.

Brimham Rocks and nearby Druids Temple are family favourites of ours. You'll find some good recommendations of places to go on the North Yorks Netmums site too.

dont go to dolphin  go to primrose valley 200% better. beutiful site plenty to do. i was on there for nearly 15 years before i sold up. regret it big time

OH - I'm such a lucky Scampi - nobody has mentioned anywhere yet that is over 90 minutes' drive from our house!!!

Yorkshire as a whole, and North Yorkshire, has whatever you want!  Tell us what sort of things you want to do/see, and we'll be able to help more!  Are you into museums, walking, shopping, stately homes, seaside, .....?
