We have visited the Norfolk broads for the past 5 or 6 years in July and October half term. We would love to hire a boat but, because of the expense have either taken our caravan and stayed with the Caravan Club or rented a cottage. We've then hired a small boat for 2 days or had a cruiser for half a day to get the best of both worlds. These boats seem quite reasonable in comparison to a cruiser and more easy to handle.
As another member mentioned, near Wroxham or Horning, it does get busy in the summer holidays, even in October and if you plan to moor-up next to a pub for lunch, you can bet your bottom dollar half the world has had the same idea.
The Broads have a lovely 'feel' to them and we are always pleased to go back as the landscape is so different to ours in Hants. You won't get far reaching views though, as the reeds are quite tall. Very pretty and I love a good nose at the fantastic homes situated on the broads.
