We've got at least 4 beaches here in Falmouth,

Castle beach and Gyllyngvase you can park on the road and verually step out of the car onto the beach.

Swanpool has parking on the beach and Maenporth across the road.

To find Vault beach basically turn right in Gorran haven going up a very narrow lane (car may be scratched both sides) after about a mile there is a cliff top car park and a steep walk down to a very uninspiring vault beach. It isn't worth it in my opinion and I am a naturist.

Gorran haven is a very nice place and I'd second the chippy.

One of the very best beaches in Cornwall in my view is Porhluney only 5 minutes away from Gorran.

I went to Looe as a child and have visited there twice with our kids.

I love all the quaint shops and the beach, but our favourite pastime is crabbing. We would often come home from the beach, eat and chill for a while then go down to the harbour in the evening with our bacon and crab nets/buckets and spend a few hours....only thing is there is no railing and it can be hair-raising with the little ones. I can remember my mum tying me to a post with my cardigan when i was little I guess there has been no major issues with people falling in or the Health and Safety people would have changed things.

Very fond memories!

Hi, we are in that area at the moment.  We are staying at Tregarton Park which is about 7 miles towards Gorran Haven from St Austell.

Last year we visited a beach called Caerhays (not sure of spelling) which was nice, but we have been to Gorran Haven today and it was lovely, especially for the kids, really calm and shallow water.

As for National Trust, we have visited Trelessick Gardens which was lovely, but be warned, the sat nav may direct you on a route where you have to take the ferry over to the gardens!  The kids loved the ferry though and was £5 for a single or £8 for a return.  You can go as a foot passenger though which is free.  The gardens have their own entrance from the ferry.  We took the dog for a lovely walk in the woods although he wasn't allowed to to in the gardens themselves.

We also went to Lanhydrock which is near Bodmin.  This was a lovely day out.  The house is huge with 52 rooms to look at, the gardens are really nice and the estate is huge, again for dog walking.  There was a really good adventure playground near to the car park as well.

We did go over to the West Coast to Perranporth beach which looked lovely but was very busy and much more "seasidey" than the beaches over the other side.  St Ives is beautiful and Carbis Bay beach is gorgeous, but no dogs allowed.

Hope that helps but if you have any other questions, let me know
