For anyone staying in North Wales, especially Anglesey, then Penrhyn Castle near Bangor is well worth a visit. The internal architecture and the opulent rooms are fabulous, especially the banqueting room with the table laid out as it was when Queen Victoria stayed there. I found it so fascinating I went round twice! There's also a lovely walled garden and a train museum and extensive grounds to explore. It's NT too so free to members.

If in Wales a trip to Powis castle at Welshpool is also excellent, built in 1200 they have a deer park and beautiful gardens also National Trust property 17

Also the green events at Llanwrtyd may appeal to the wacky campers, Man v Horse (runners race against 50 horses) is on 8th June, they have stone skimming competitions also walks of the drovers, following old drover trails on 22nd June and the infamous bog snorkeling

Not for me I must admit, but my sister has done Man v Horse despite a horse allergy!!
