Mrs Bonce - the cattle are AMAZING! Chillingham was easilly my favourite day out of our Northumberland holiday a few years ago, I won't spoil it be telling you anything else but nature has an incredible way of working.
As for Alnwick, agree with Scotsjamie, I absolutely love castles but was a bit disappointed with Alnwick. We did one of the tours and to be fair the tour guide was really good but it was all too new and modern for me, I much prefered Warkworth castle - especially the hermitage.

Well just make sure you make a note of where you go in. I got lost in there a couple of years ago, every staircase went to a room I'd already been in and I ended up going round in circles - I ended up in the wine cellar three times! It took me so long to find the entrance/exit I thought I was destined to die in there! lol

Sounds a bit like Pembroke Castle. We got very confused by all the rooms there, and oh my goodness there were a lot of stairs!
