The Hart inn at Sandsend is dog friendly, the last time we went in on a rainy lunchtime it was packed with fellow dog lovers and the atmosphere was loveley!
Also no been in any Whitby pubs but I know for sure that Humble Pie and Mash (over the bridge on the abbey side) is dog friendly and as the title suggests does a fab selection of pies, great for a Winter break-and it's cheap.

We spent many, many family holidays at Sandsend (every October half term for at least 10 years!) - The Hart was 'our local' when we were there ... the landlord even knew our order and would start pulling the pints as we walked in!  At that time (the last time we had a holiday there was about 25 years ago!!) there was a HUGE german shepherd living at The Hard (Trampus) - he could rest his head on the bar!  The landlord used to let him into the bar after last orders - he came round everybody in the pub trying to cadge beer dregs and peanuts!!  Definitely a dog-friendly pub in those days!

The Lion Blakey Ridge great views and food + dog friendly back through Castlton to Whitby a realy nice drive.

That's one of my favourite pubs. Wasn't it there that people got snowed in for several days a few years ago?

That'd be my idea of heaven, at least until the food and beer ran out.

Pterodactyl

When we were there, they only did baps and only had a choice of about 3 different fillings! It's an amazing place though, like stepping back in time.

We liked the tiny little snug that only holds about 4 people.

It's usually baps and pork pies only at the Beck Hole Inn but if the homemade beer cake is on I'd go for some of that. One room in the pub is a sweet shop selling "proper" sweets (you know, the ones in jars, not plastic bags) so you can always fill up on those.

More info here http://www.beckhole.info/ if you need it.

Definitely dog friendly (the owners have one of their own).
