If you fancy venturing south, try Market World at St Austell, its a huge indoor market that is open all year round, but they also have an outdoor space where other traders and events take place at various times of the year, including Christmas.
The beauty is that even if the weather is awful you can still shop and browse undercover, and there are all the little Cornish villages to visit in their Christmas finery.

Thanks Julia. We only have a long weekend available so St Austell is a bit far for us to travel but we'd definitely like a longer break in Cornwall at some point.
To everyone else who's offered advice, it's much appreciated. But Rose is a woman and she isn't listening. She has decided she fancies Bath, which nobody has suggested. Has anyone got any experience of that one?

Have stayed at Bath last year, used Bath Marina Caravan site which is a couple of minutes walk from the Park and Ride, site is OK a bit run down but very friendly helpful staff, some pitches are small and some you can't put an awning on because of trees. Best to ring if using that caravan site. Bath Christmas market has a separate venue for an ice rink. The streets are uneven in places, cobblestones. There are around 200 stalls and sometimes there is entertainment near the Abbey. Some tradition local stalls but there is a good mix of UK and continental. Plenty of good eating and drinking places in Bath, a little expensive but most Christmas markets are. Suggest you do use the Park and Ride, parking and driving your vehicle into Bath can be tiresome. We spent 2 days looking round the market and spent a further day having a trip out to the outlet village at Street.
Thanks Geoff. Rose showed me the Visit Bath and Christmas market sites, it was something she read in one of those that made her decide she fancied it!
With regard to the site, we've made a booking at Fairwood Lakes near Westbury (see link below). Has anyone stayed here previously? Seems to have been done up recently according to their website and Facebook pages.
