Thanks very much Lobey - I looked at their web page and it looks like they breed some of their ponies/horses, a few are crossed with lighter types too. I would like to ride one though and it will be nice to speak with someone who has them.

I have been looking at breeders for far too long to be honest - probably about 3 years! There is a Highland Pony Society too. I want a 'tall' one though for a Highland - so while I want to buy young I want something that is more or less guaranteed to be 14'2" which isn't an easy thing.

Fickle - do you think it is because I seem to have unintentionally taken over - many apologies OP!

Hi Paula, we did a weeks pony trekking at Newtonmore, but I think that that set up may have now moved to Carrbridge. (22 miles up the A9).

Our pony trekking week was over 50 years ago, so you will gather I am not a horsy person although we did enjoy that holiday.

Stunning pics

And, that's just one of the reasons why we love Scotland. Spent our honeymoon there (Trossachs and Loch Ness) and also been to Aviemore, Aberdeen (Brother in Law and his family moved there from Wiltshire around 14yrs ago). We managed to get to Mull last year
