LOADS AND LOADS OF CHOCOLATE.  Hot weather, eat it quick and store on hips for later use.

Whether you go for Beanfeasts or army rations, it's light and easy to carry a few herbs and spices in little Ziploc bags to spice things up a bit. Onions also travel well and don't need chilling - good for adding a bit of substance to meals.

Stick to dried stuff where you can for carbs - noodles, rice, spaghetti and couscous/bulgar wheat.

Beanfeasts and other dried soya products are useful for a good base for meals and you can always buy fresh ingredients to add to them while you walk.

Powdered milk, coffee and tea bags, obviously. If you can find powdered orange cordial as well even better but be warned it's full of colourants and will have you high as a kite!

I also used to favour the cereal bars - preferably the ones with the most cereal and least sugar. Dried fruit as well.
