I just this morning got a pair of hiking boots from a seller on ebay.I am a man,and find it difficult to find hiking boots in my size 6.I saw that the boots were ladies size 6,and decided to go for it!
Anyway,i am wearing them now,and they fit perfectly. They are a pair of Scarpa Nepal hiking boots 3 season. They have no inner GTX protection layer,so they continually need re proofing. They are extremely comfortable for a new pair of boots.so comfortable in fact,i am wearing them as i stroll around the house and sit around.they are a bit too heavy as casual house shoes, but feel fun to wear.Apparently, they dry out very quickly when they have been drenched.here is a few reviews of them at outdoorsmagic.com

http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/review/reviewProductReviews/mps/rpn/24847/prod/Scarpa-Nepal-Walking-Boot/rcn/93/rgn/5/v/1/sp/364174218165238219676

All i need to do now,is get a load of reproofing stuff,so i am never caught un awares.
Does anyone else have Hiking/Walking boots they would like to share info on?,as i am ideally, still looking for a pair of mens size 6, 4 season... on ebay ( i can't afford a new pair ).
I read that hiking boots differ from walking boots, and people need to understand that hiking boots are used for people who are carrying a heavy rucksack, and walking boots are for walking,or carrying much lighter rucksacks.
Any new information will be wonderful,as i am sure, like me,people get confused.

Are you planning walking on snow/ice ? If not then i don't think you will need 4 season boots.

What boots you get depend on what type of walking you will be doing

Have you tried Alt-Berg ?

hi blacklagoon

i have a pair of peter storm walking boots which i originally bought  for hiking and they performed well, however we dont do much walking now due to working to many hours however my boots are never off my feet, i wear them all day every day, they are my work boots and my geans boots. i have had them for nearly 4 years now tread is still fine but the inner soles are getting holes now so i am about to look for a new pair, i will deffo go for peter storm again as they are gust so comfy and dont wear out. my family are like 'gill get some girly shoes' but girly shoes aren't comfy i like my hiking boots, and when i fell down a hole camping a couple of weeks ago im sure the padded ankle protection provented a broken ankle!!!!! (i didnt realize i could write so much about hiking boots .......... )

You sound like my OH who has just done a 12000 word one for her CIM post graduate dipoma

As far as boots go i have a pair of Salomon mega trek 6 light which are unbelievably comfy even when first worn. I would like to get another pair next year though (not as a replacement but as a secondary pair)  but i would like leather ones. Better when its raining

actually the leather ones would become the summer ones ...... you get my drift

Bought a pair of Brasher Hillmasters in the spring and wore them in the Lake District for a week with no breaking in and they were excellent.

Take care.
