I am regularly involved in two Triathlons:

1) Cooking, Cleaning and Gardening.

2) Aquarobics, Line Dancing and Walking to shops!

Sometimes I combine the lot in one day, does that make it a Sixathlon or a Sexathlon!!!

Seriously, well done Angelfish1. I do walk with Ramblers and some other groups but never more than 11/12 miles.

Good for you, Angelfish!  I fancied having a go at this, but I quickly found out I don't enjoy swimming enough to work at it as hard as I would need to, so now I just run.  Have entered a few shorter races for this year and am really looking forward to them!  Which triathlon are you hoping to do?  Good luck with it, hope you get your shins sorted out.

What distance is the Highworth??

I did a few triathlons 2 yrs ago and then decided to "take a break for a year" so that was a good 18mths ago!!

Go for it and enjoy it - you only really race yourself as you all start at different times so don't worry if you get passed by anyone on the bike or runs!!

Highworth is 400m swim (16 lengths)

Not sure about the cycle and run. Think its 20k and 5 or 7k run. Its the swim Im concerned about!!!

That is a sprint triathlon and the shortest distance you get.

Don't worry about the swim, just do what you can and make sure you put your correct swim time on the application as they band you together with people who are likely to swim the same time as you (so you won't get overtaken/drowned!) Don't think that you have to do front crawl, a lot do breaststroke.

You really should try and get to watch a triathlon before yours to get a feel for it - they really are great fun - especially the sence of achievement after you have finished!

The most important advice I can give is don't panick, enjoy it. Then milk it for all its worth!!lol
