Just got back from Pembrokeshire, not backpacking this time but hostelling parts of the coastal path, starting from Poppit Sands and finishing at Marloes near Skomer. No we didn't walk the whole lot, but cheated by using the excellent coastal bus service for walkers.
So a good way to avoid getting hedge-sick. The buses are higher than a car, so you get more of a view, and take the narrowest of back lanes, so you're glad you're not driving.
The website is www.pembrokeshiregreenways.co.uk and you can download various timetables and the bus map, or pick up timetables locally from info centres, youth hostels and the bus driver too.
These buses are seriously underused which is a shame - it was like having our own taxi service! The best way to use them is catch the bus out in the morning and walk back to your base, which avoids the stress of having to get somewhere in time for the last bus back.
Sorry, gone a bit off topic from dogs - but I think you can take dogs on the buses, so it's relevant - just!
