Hello all,

Can anyone advise me where best to do a spot of beach fishing on the Dorset coast?  No Studland nudist beach and tiny maggot puns please.

Mike

Hengistbury Head, or Chesil Beach are probably the best bets. We prefer the Portland end of Chesil, although many prefer the Abbotsbury end, both have large (pay) car parks.

Best times to go evening/night. During the day things tend to be quite quiet unless the mackerel are running along Chesil. Use feathers, cast as far as you can and jag the feathers in.

Best baits, live peeler crab, live sand eel, lugworm, ragworm, mackerel.

Good Bait shops: Weymouth Angling Centre (who usually sell live peeler crab as well as lug and rag) in Weymouth and Wessex Angling Centre in Poole.

Forget Studland Nudist Beach ... much too shallow and flat there!

:)

Arr thanks C'light,

So far you've sorted out our campsite (see posts and review re Primrose Hill Farm) and now the fishing.  Can you service the car before we go?

I have a friend who services cars though...
