Just planned a few nights in the peak district and now we're looking at activities for us and our kids to do whilst there. The boys are 7 and 3 and don't take any boring twoddle from us such as museums and such like!
So has anyone been to the water park at Alton Towers? I take it most of it is indoors and has pools, slides, places to eat etc?
Any tips / comments / suggestions? We also have the adventure playground and farm in mind at Chatsworth.
Hi, ive stayed in the splash landings hotel there and it is absolutely fabulous. You will not be able to get the children out of the pool and theres loads to keep them entertained.
Splash landings is fabulous and lots of fun for all ages!!

------------- Never give up on someone you cannot go a day without thinking about........
Try Gulivers Kingdom at Matlock bath, its just off the A6 and is a small scale adventure park aimed at younger children rather than teenagers, also try Carsington Water and visitor centre, great play park and picnic area, all for free(apart from a small car parking fee) also you can ride on Peak Rail from Rowsley, restored steam engines with themed days including Thomas the Tank engine some weekends, Try the Coach House at Lea for home made icecream and teas, or feed the ducks and trout in the river at Bakewell, they really are tame!
Im lucky enough to be living in the area, so any futher help you need just ask away
The waterpark at Alton Towers is really good, you can usually find me in one of the hot tubs while the kids go on all the rides. If the weather's good there's an outdoor area where you can sit on the side as if you were abroad too. Best to avoid school holidays if you can though.
We have just come back from a weekend near Alton towers and there is a FAB place called monkey forest at Trentham gardens in Stoke on Trent. Its just as it sounds the whole forest is a monkey sanctuary with a walk around then play parks and a cafe. We didnt have time but Trentham gardens also has a maze, steam train and boatrides. Think its about £12 per adult for all and £5 for kids we were very impressed. And finally Trentham gardens also has an outlet shopping place which I was not allowed in but looked really good
we Live just 5 MINS walking distance from the Monkey FOREST in Trentham stoke on trent.
Trentham Gardens is a great place to visit. great shops, and wonderful gardens you can walk around the lake and up to the Deer park. You can get really close to the deer they seem to be very tame and used to people. We walk our two springers here every day... Our two granddaughters love the Monkey forest ... Monkeys run free and you just walk amongst them its fab.
