Mike:
A way I go in to find caches in specific areas is by visiting the following Geocaching maps site; it is based on Google maps:
This will initially dump you away in the USA at Green Lakes Seattle, but don't panic:-

http://www.geocaching.com/map/default.aspx

Then "zoom out" till you can move to your local area where you then "zoom in" for the population of caches in that area.

I am automatically logged in with my Geocaching identity when I do this so maybe if the above does not work for you you might need to log in first.

I just go to geocaching.com and log in, then I put the place I'm going to in and it brings up the nearest, even just a british village name works, or a postcode in where it says zipcode. Maybe you need to register first so it knows you are in Britain?

I am an active geocacher and use geocaching.com.  It covers the whole world with its search function, but does have a habit of assuming you are in the USA.  The trick that I use is to use a place name ie Falmouth but then put comma UK after it (ie Falmouth,UK) that seems to work ok.

Also you can use UK Postcodes.  If the basic search does not work try the advance search.  You do not need to register to search, but do need to if you want to see the coordinates!  I also always use the map it function as i find it easier.

Good hunting.

We use Geocaching.com - have found putting in Hastings, it takes me USA - so as said, I add Sussex or Uk - works for me
Also have found some postcodes take me to Germany etc - so just put in nearest town - when page opens 'MAP IT' and then drag the area I want ---- hope that makes sense lol

Bit of faffing on - but well worth it lol
