Hi, Maybe a strange question but as i am still cycling in this current cold weather is their any special maintenance etc that i need to consider for my bike.
Provided you maintain your bike properly anyway, theres nothing particular you need to do with it in cold weather. As a matter of course you should keep chain lubricated, I use spray lithium grease but you can get specific bike chain spray.
Obviously keep gears/brakes ajusted & tyres pumped hard, you are better using a track pump than a normal bike pump, pumps them up harder. I find keeping tyres pumped up really hard seems to make them more puncture resistant, particulary with impact punctures caused by bumping soft tyres up kerbs.
I too cycle in the snow. Keep the chain & gears clean & lubricated. I use spray grease intended for motorcycle chain. Clean the chain with either a citrus solvent, or with a strong de-greaser from cycle shops. Strips of corrugated card are good to de-crud between the rear sprockets. ACF 50 is very good to protect the metalwork - used by the US Navy to keep salt water off aluminium aircraft at sea. Scottoiler FS 365 is also very good to protect painted & metal surfaces. The mud & salt then don't stick, making washing easirer. Muc Off works well, spray on then hose off. I use all these on my motorcycle, though I'm not brave enough to take that out in the snow. The Muc Off gets used on the car & trailer tent too. No wonder I can't get in the garage.
