hi dave/sharon. sea fishing is my life. the boats you mention. do you know how much they cost. and how long for. and how big are they. is there any cover . ie cabin to shelter in if it rains. as a single camper. it will just be me. i dont want to be paying a fortune for a short time on the boat. but fishing from the beaches will be ok. if no surfers are using the beach. i have not fished down there yet. so dont really have any idea of what it is like. if you can give me some more info. i would be grateful. this will help me decide wether to go all that way. long journey for me from gateshead. even if i do travel free on the train. also if you know of a camp site that is near a place to buy some tackle. as i really need a new rod so will get it down there.  and if you know which is the best beach to fish from.  many thanks. .brian

Hi ksa22

There should be loads of mackrel around at that time of year, these are very easy to catch from habour walls and jettys, a bit harder from the beach but if into deepish water OK. Just use feathers or any thing which sparkles (cost about a pound a packet) cast em out and pull back in, great, you can catch 6 at a time when they are about.

If thats not for you just fish on the bottom with some lug or rag worm you might get a bass or pollock if you are lucky. There are usually some school bass about in the esturys in that area.

Or stick on a dexter wedge, these will catch most types of fish that are about.

Have a look on the fishing forums there is loads of info for you.

Good luck.
