Done Snowdon again yesterday (about 6 or 7 times now), but probably the last time. The car park at pen-y-Pass is now charging £10 for more than 4 hours parking. Crazy. Last year i got in the Rhyd Ddu, Snowdon Ranger and Watkins paths, parking was £4 at all of these for the day. To now charge £10 is madness.

10 quid That's daylight robbery! And I thought parking in the Lakes was expensive.

Some years ago you used to be able to park down the pass a few hundred yards in one of the laybys and then cut across the grass onto the pyg track.  They then filled in the laybys and started charging more  at Pen y pass.  It was to encourage use of the snowdon sherpa bus service was one explanation.

Just ripping people off more like.

Well I'll be camping at Betws-y-Coed the week after next, and walking Snowdon (after doing "The Ben" last camping trip) is a must. But, blimey, those parking charges are bonkers. Given its about a fiver each on the Sherpa bus for a day rover, we will be now taking the bus.

Just to add, we arrived at 8.50am and the car park was half full but by 9.10am in was full and this was on a Wednesday (school holidays though).

We DID it!!!

4 hours walking up an down total time 7.5 hours inc 1.5 hours on the summit

Had a view of sorts as the cloud and mist lifted and walked 8 miles in total up the Rhyd Ddu path and down the Snowdon Ranger. We were staying at silver Birches and got the sherpa bus to the car park and back again.

In total we climbed 4 mountains but did one twice, met a group running on the way down finishing the 3 peaks challenge they did it with 5 minutes to spare!.

If you are thinking of doing it ten go for if we can get up there anyone can

John
