I had never seen it before, but we have just come back from france.

Camped in a lovely little Municipal campsite on the Seine/Eure Loop (£35 for 4 nights!) no electric for us  frame tent for 2 and car... riverside pitch, free fishing if you want it... Free showers!!

The place was called Pont D`Larche, a pretty little medieval village fairly near Rouen...

 Anyway there were 2 lakes within about 3km, with little beach to swim..AND this amazing set up with an overhead wire round the lake, and people on wake boards, or water skiis were launched from the club house and towed round the lake..there were jumps..people could go in pairs; and in fact they are having the French wake boarding championships there this month.

I thought it was a brilliant idea.. saves all those speed boats, and there were lots of people going around at the same time. There was a rescue boat who would zoom over and collect up fallen skiers.

Looked great fun and it was very popular.

I thought that it would be very popular over here, particularly on the lakes that ban speed boats. It also means that many more people can water ski and wake board.

Anyone got a free lake?

There is one of these based at Wilian Lake (i think thats what its called) in Milton Keynes.  Its great fun but quite expensive.  They get you started on knee boards and then once you can get all the way round the course with out falling off you progress to actual Wake boarding....so much harder!  Makes your arms know they've had a work out!
