 All organised for a walk in the Ribble Valley tomorrow. Walking based around Hurst Green and Ribchester and including a section of the Ribble Way. should be lovely by the river in this warm weather.

 Really enjoyed the 6 mile walk. It was called in the Steps of Tolkien( who supposedly based the land in Lord of the Rings on the area around Stonyhurst after visiting it)

Out of Hurst Green up to Stonyhurst College then down the Hodder Valley to the confluence of the Hodder with the Ribble. Continuing along the Ribble Way before cutting back through fields to Hurst Green. Had our lunch on a shingle beach watching a heron and a dipper, Fish jumping in the river.

Beautiful!

Not today but yesterday I walked about six miles not far from my home in Warwickshire. It was flat going, mostly bridleways and canal towpaths but a bit of surfaced road as well. Not very far I admit but after eight days walking the South West Coast Path I fancied something a bit easier. I'm walking every day now to keep supple for a walk up Snowdon later this month.

I got back on Friday (12 Aug) after completing The Gritstone Trail - yipee! 

It was bloody hard, wet, got a couple of huge blisters and because we walked at times in the cloud actually added aprox 8 mile to the trail due to lack of visibility and human error.  Had a great time!
