Carp fishing... I can`t make my mind up if I love it or hate it!

I started carp fishing about 5 years ago but after 3 years had a 2 year brake. Chose the harder venues in stunning locations and chasing big old dark fish, ended up bored of it.

After 2 years of mountain biking and general messing around I went for a jolly with me old fishing buddies and caught my pb! I`m now in the process of getting back into it but I`m not going to get obsessed like I did last time, my brain just can`t handle it!

My PB of 38.04

Yay, more carpers....

Sadly there doesnt seem to be many campsites which have lakes which are carp-fishing based/friendly.....some do contain nice carp though, and all i tend to do is stalk them or fish a heavy float set-up in the evenings. Makes a change from the bed/buzzers set-up.

Rookley Park on the IOW has nice carp, so does Cofton farm in devon, Wellington country park and a few around London and Sussex also are a bit more carper based.

As a matter of interest, Swiss Farm provided my wife with her PB carp last year on margin fished maggots....all 13lb odd of it.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but

Went fishing yesterday with a few friends who were carp fishing (I was just there fishing for silver fish)

Well you can imagine my surprise when the float dipped and I had hold of a carp!

248

7 1/2lb caught on a single maggot size 16 hook and 4lb line.  Can honestly say it was a thrill to play that fish into the net   Also bagged a bream, six roach and a perch all from the same spot!

I'm now on the lookout for an inexpensive carp rod cos now I want to catch a bigger one!
