Getting these pictures up has been a bit traumatic but it is working now. Anyway....

In my original post (where the pic's refused to play ball) I mentioned that we hadn't really been away this year because of essential works on the boat. We actually spent 4 solid months working on her, so we've only spent a couple of nights in the tent, on a visit to Pickering. Anyway, I know that we're all interested in things that are maybe a bit out of the ordinary and suppose that fixing up a 60 year motor yacht probably is a little different for many people.

We've actually owned this boat for about 10 years and spend most of the year aboard. Camping and boating have much in common, though there is a lot more work involved in looking after the boat than there is our tent!

We had her out of the water for the essentials. We stripped her, replaced wood in the hull and gave her a nice re-paint. The only outstanding job this year (if we can get the mahogany before winter bites) is to fit the trims around the side of the boat where you can see the overhanging canvas deck covers.

I thought you might like to see the old girl.

Great looking boat stu, I'm very jealous! lol

I have a boat which was originally going to be totally refurbished for use on the canals, it was stripped down and completely gutted, sanded down ready for repainting then OH upped and left - so I'm now left with a shell which I can't do anything with and nobody wants, and it's costing money to keep it. Know anyone who wants a winter project?

Btw, just a tip now you've got your pics on Photobucket - it would be better to resize them to large (640 x 480) for posting on here then you won't stretch the page

No. She's a 1951 motor yacht built by Geo Wilson at Sunbury on Thames. Below is the only picture I have of her, under sail, crossing the Wash in 1972. Helming her is Pat Jones, who owned her from 1967 to 1990. He's in his eighties now and we are in regular contact by email or phone.

She was commissioned in 1950 by a Dr. Brownlee and her original name was 'FLEXADIL', a meaningless name unless you know that 'Flexadil' is (or was) a prescription anti-depressant. Not a bad sense of humour for a Doctor.
