I am writing to ask if anybody has found Cycling whilst on Holiday how have you found finding the cycle routes and if their are any links to give others the route you found of interest.

I am based in Cambridgeshire but interested to hear from any part explored.

Camp sites are often near or on the National Cycle Network!

Sites along the Tissington Trail, Derbyshire - Tarka Trail, Nth. Devon - plus many others.

As suggested, look at the Sustrans web site for Route Numbers & then check them out on a map - you'll be able to cross-reference the info from that as to where to go!

I always get OS Map of the area and use my bike to explore possible walks etc.

I believe Newton Mill on outskirts of Bath has a direct link to a city centre cycle path. From there you can also pick up the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath cycle route.

Also C & CC site devizes is right next to the  Kennet & Avon further along in a great area along the towpath and off

Just got back from a week cycling Chester and wales.

Stayed at netherwood campsite on the canal at Chester, cycled into and through chester and then linked up with a path on disused railway line (found on OS map) which then linked onto side of River Dee from Queensferry ( I think)  for 7 miles back into Chester, had a pint or 2 then back along the canal to Netherwood  (about 25 miles round trip)

Stayed at Tanyfron caravan site in Dolgellau and cycled the Mawdach trail to barmouth and back (20miles)  Also did cycle ride from Wolverley C at CC site down to stourport on severn which is a good ride, best when its dry though as not much of it is tarmac.

We have a book called "The lost lines of britain" gives you all the cycle trails on disused railway lines in Britain.

that is more the type of camping I am planning just awaiting couple of items for my collection which are set to arrive around mid april time so hoping for a shake down soon after.

As above we pick the camp site based on it's position regarding access to small roads and lanes by looking at a road map and the OS map. Then we use the OS map to organise various circuits from the camp site. We tend to do more walking than cycling if the contour lines are close together  We quite often end up in Cambridgeshire as it's flat !

What I'm saying is it is very easy to make up your own routes wherever you are using an OS map. It just takes a bit of effort !

Eskdale C&CC site is very close to the Eskdale Trail.  Cycle from the site mostly on cycle paths to Ravenglass via Muncaster Castle.  Book your bikes on & travel back up the hill on the Ravenglass & Eskdale steam railway.  Did it last Easter with our 8 year old.  Brilliant day out!

East anglia doesnt have many nasty hills a little by the coast but normaly good for cycling in Norfolk / Suffolk /Cambridgeshire,  I used drive for a living I found some areas around Yorkshire a little hilly but overall a dog in a trailer think would be fine.

Well I now Norfolk and suffolk, as a driver but I am a newbie camper I personally am always very happy when in Norfolk, one suggestion is look into the norfolk broads real stunning area, roads can be a little busier but not that fast moving, as  everyone is mainly relaxing.
