Hi all

We are off to swanage, norden farm at the end of july. We are just wondering what beaches we can take our dog on in that area.

Anyone know please?

Weymouth up by the pier/harbour and I think one of the beaches at Studland allows dogs as well

Looks like you have a few on duffs54's link. There are some great walks in Purbeck anyway. Dog shouldn't be short of exercise. Norden is a great site too.

I live in Bridlington, so the beach is my local dog walk. Now during the winter, there is very little dog 5h1t  left on the beach, but as soon as the comfort's arrive, the beaches and surrounding areas are eyes down and looking. It has even got  to fists, when we have pointed out that their dog has messed and they have not picked it up. Also pointing out that the middle beach is no dogs during summer, has ended in fists.

Another- rant over

I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.

as a dog owner , i have every sympathy with local residents living by beaches, who have to put up with irresponsable owners who don't clean up after their pets,

we always have a number of poop bags to clean up after our little dog ,where ever we travel ,it only takes a few seconds to pick it up and dispose of it properly

in places with small beaches i personally have no problems with dog bans on the beach, we're grandparents and often take 1 or more of our grankids to the sea side with us and the mutt and would not want one of our kids treading in some one ele's dog doo's, that said on the larger beaches i think it's only reasonable to have stretche's where responsable owners can excercise their pets by the sea

no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far

Here we go again!

This thread has been cleaned up of anti-dog pooh rants once and now another is kicking off.

Why does everyone assume that grunty is going to let his dog foul the beaches. He's only asked which he can take it on.

Beaches are anyway often covered in all sorts of foul rubbish. I do not condone dog pooh on beaches or anywhere else but at least it quickly disappears. The plastics, glass, metal etc is there for many years.

We actually avoid walking our dog on beaches because we don't want an expensive vet bill or our dog to suffer if he injures himself on discarded human rubbish - needles/bottles/cans etc. so much of which is left on beaches especially in summer. However, at the moment he has a split nose (run-in with bad tempered cat we think) and the vet has advised us to run him in the sea at least twice a week, fortunatly there is a patch of beach only about 5 miles away between Hastings and Bexhill where we can take him.

Our 2 year old lab (whose poop we pick up) loves swimming in the sea!  She's as much part of our holiday as my OH...in fact more!  LOL .  She's a gate keeper and makes no noise but sits outside the door people watching.

It's important to socialise your dog so don't listen to the moaners here....unless you DON'T pick up.

(wish I could figure out how to add an image here!)
