38 miles and counting down,  that's brilliant, the miles are melting away, shame they got so wet today, but at least a nice warm over night stop for them tonight and a warm meal.?

Coast walkers.

Another 19 miles done today from Clay Bank Top to Glaisdale. Couldn't speak to him much today because there is no phone signal and no public phone so the landlord of the pub has very kindly allowed him to ring me quickly tonight. But a very wet day again today - they got absolutely soaked. Not sure if they are b&b or camping tonight but only another 19 miles again tomorrow and they will be able to say "I can see the sea!"

ROBIN HOOD'S BAY HERE THEY COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bet you're getting excited and can't wait to see him again, sounds like they're almost 'Home and Dry'  (excuse the pun, but what awful weather they've had thrown at them.) Do hope they manage to get dried out before todays walk. Are they headed to the finishing post today. ?

just clapping them on a bit.

Coast walkers.

Yes, Coast walkers, they were headed for the finishing post today and they finally made it earlier on, tired and wet (again). They had another bad day today weather-wise with torrential rain and got soaked through, but they've done it now and that's that. The beautiful scenery that they've witnessed along the way has kind of made up for the bad weather though

Tonight they are staying in Whitby before travelling home tomorrow. Then we'll have to collect the rest of the offline sponsorship money for the children's hospice now that the walk has been completed

Well, he's back home and is now looking at the map to see where he's been

I think he's also looking to see where he can go to next!

Well Done Emmasmum61's Hubby and Friend

Can pat yourselves on your backs now. Such an achievement to finish all those miles in such a short time and with all that weather thrown at you too.

Let us know how much you managed to raise for the Charity on UKCS once added up.

Will add a little to your kitty too.

Coastwalkers.

Emmasmum61 hope you too will be joining them on their next adventure .

Thankyou very much, Coast walkers, for your very kind donation. I will let you know the total amount that we raise when we've collected it all in - watch this space

As for joining them on their next adventure.....hmm, not so sure about that

When are you off on your next adventure?

Sorry Emmasmum61.

Tried to get back to you last thursday, (the day before we went away on holiday,) but our internet went down on us, we tried all day to get connected, I expect it was all those late holiday makers/campers  looking for their cheap late deals that overloaded the system.

Hope Hubby and friend are fully recovered and dried out after their long expedition.

Our next adventure has come and gone, we camped near Newquay (for only £10 a night including electric, just 3 units on site, at the height of the summer season,

We leisurely walked walked from Perrinporth to Padstow on the Cornish part of the SW Coastal Path, over 4 seperate days. We met and spoke to many other walkers also on a South West Coast Path mission. (you can spot them a mile off, map in one hand and rucksacks on their backs.)

How much was raised ? and have they decided on their next mission yet ?

Coast walkers.

Glad you've got your internet connection back, Coast walkers, what would we do without it now?

The two musketeers are now fully recovered, tents and equipment now dried out. My husband's friend lives in Tenerife and he's now flown back there. Not sure what my husband is doing next yet - we have to go on holiday yet anyway. I keep telling him he's just been on his hols but he insists that it was no jolly  - he'd tell me anything

Sounds like a reasonably priced site that you stayed on in Newquay. Which one is it? We would like to go down to Cornwall next year as we love it down there and we haven't been for years as we lived in Tenerife ourselves for a period of time and now we're back we want to explore the UK again

We are still in the process of collecting in monies at the moment but we expect to raise close to £500 which isn't too bad and it all helps to keep the Donna Louise Children's Hospice open. My husband's friend didn't do the walk for any charity - he just wanted the challenge!!

Please let me know the name of the site you stayed on, Coast walkers. Ta very much

Emmasmum61

Hi Emmasmum61,

Raising £500 ish would be lovely.

The campsite in Cornwall £10 a night inc EHU is called Higher Trenoweth and is in Belowda near Indian Queens. Small quiet inland CS site (avoiding busy school holiday times)

Where abouts in Cornwall were you thinking of going.? Another Brilliant site we would reccomend is Wheal Vrey, which was central to all the well known coastal areas. (check it out on this site,  the Campsite Search, have done a review on it. Good value for money.)

Coast walkers.

good luck to your OH, wish well from me, some friends and I did a coastal walk some years ago in aid of a local childrens lukemia charity, we started in Blackpool and walked cross country to Robin Hoods bay,

when i say some friends and I , i didn't actually do much walking, i drove the support van and pitched all the tents at the camp sites we stopped on along the route, ready for when they got there. i suppose you could say i had the easier job

we raised over £2500.00 in sponsorship and donations along route.

Hi Coast walkers and many thanks for the info. We don't really mind which part of Cornwall we go to as it's all lovely but we'll check out the sites that you've mentioned for starters

Hi realbusdriver and well done to you and the others for raising such a large amount for charity. My OH is now back from the walk which he completed in 13 days. He didn't have the luxury of having his tent already pitched for him when he arrived at the sites or having a support vehicle because he carried everything on his back lol. Unfortunately this meant that he was unable to collect donations on the walk because a bucketful of money would have been just too much to carry along with a 14 kilo rucksack!!  Well done once again
