Hello Psyklon . So you have already tested and weighed up the Poachers . Its pretty good   . Your B&M tent looks good . Very lightweight . Ideal for nice weather camping . I have stayed at the Fishpool campsite last November . On my first Cycle, Campsite outing . It was bitter cold and freezing fog and raining . Not the best of starts . I was charged £9 , as it was classed as low season . I was the only tent on site . Apart from a couple of Caravans . " I dont know how they can ask £20 for one man Tent " . I have also written a review about the site . It Is a lovely well presented .  And Toilets showers are Immaculate . I have seen Lady heyes camp site as we drove past In the car . All the reviews give good reports . Its worth keeping in mind for the future at £8 a pitch .So you want go  further then Delamere . There are lots of Site In South Cheshire . Quite a few around Tarporley . Or you could head west to North Wales ." like I intend to do ".  Your pictures are great you wont be missed cycling with all those tattoo's. And all the chilling with your bottle of beer .

Hi Piker, not me in the Carriers mate but have past it a few times recently but not "called in!" Zig, we have stayed at the Fishpool Inn loads of times in our touring caravan and as you say, it's immaculate! Toilets, Showers, all facilities, location etc, all spot on, but a bit pricey for me in a 1 man tent with no EHU on a BYCYCLE!!! Surely they can't charge £20 for a 1 man tent with no EHU for 1 night? I will be looking at the other sites on the Cheshire Web site, some of your suggestions look good.
There's a campsite that we have stayed at before called the "Fox & Hounds" which is next to the Plassey in Wrexham. Top food and good beer. Just trying to plan a route.

Hello again Zizag, I biked it to the Anderton Boat Lift near Northwich on Saturday. I set of from Widnes, then went via Cronton, Sankey, Warrington, Walton, Stretton, Antrobus, Comberbach then to Anderton. My return journey was slightly different as I went through Hatton, Daresbury, Higher Walton then picked up my outward route again at Walton then back to Widnes! Just under 46 miles. Didn't see the boat lift actually working though. Nice pub right by the boat lift called the Stanley Arms though it wasn't open at 10:00am. There are also good pubs at Daresbury (Ring 'o' Bells), Hatton (Hatton Arms) & Walton (Walton Arms).
My Route

Hello Psyklon, again .Glad you had a nice cycle out and back from Widnes 45 Miles is very good . Should keep you In good stead for your Expedition . I have Cycled and walked In this area . On the Cycle I came from the Comberbach ,Pickmere, Knutsford Wilslow area . And all around the Cheshire Cycleways . I stopped at Marbury park and looked at the Anderton boat lift . It was not working either when I went there a couple of times . Another time I went on a grotty rainy day parked up at Marston Country park and put on all my waterproofs . Walked all the trails , found all the Interesting places . Its such a lovely place . So we are very lucky to have all of Cheshire on our doorsteps .

Cheers

Hi

Agree with robnchar that cycle camping/touring is addictive - our favourite destination is France but also Shropshire has lots of potential. Living in Congleton we haven't camped that much in Cheshire (have camped at Christleton, Chester and the Durham Heifer, but no facilities there once the pub locks up) - not many sites for tents in Cheshire compared with all the caravan sites.

Interested to read about the Lady Heyes site if they are going to accept tents, so we'll write to them as we are trying to keep a comprehensive list of sites on our Cheshire Cycleway website. Not that we can compete with UKCampsite for its details and info!

We also go backpacking, so the lightweight stuff comes in handy for cycling, although it's certainly easier to carry things on a bike than on your bike. Until trying to heave the bike onto a train of course, or up a flight of station steps....

Our luxury weight-wise is our tent (Terra Nova Ultra Quasar) which is quite heavy really but it is for two of us and it will stand up to all weathers and makes a good base. Haven't found anything better yet even though you have to pitch inner first. The best part is two entrances, so you can cook in one end if bad weather, and climb in and out at the other end.

Cheers
