my advice would be try and join a club where you would be able to demo boats and pick up the skills . If you put a post on uk rivers guide someone will be able to put you in touch with a club in your area, i would not buy that on ebay the golden rule of kayaking is demo ,demo before you buy

sorry i mean uk rivers guide book and go on inland  happy  paddling but be safe on the water you will get hooked on it it is such a buz
