We're hoping to visit the I.O.W the first weekend in June, hopefully travelling on the Sunday and staying till Friday. We're campers, so we'll be taking a Corsa & a small trailer, but our friends will be towing a 22' caravan with a Discovery. It's the long Bank Holiday for the Queen's jubilee, so does anyone know where we can get the best ferry deals etc? Thanks.

Some of the campsites do good deals on the ferry crossing.

I think the Camping & Caravanning club has some kind of discount, but I could do with some idea of timetables etc, especially as it's bank holiday & I've never used a ferry before (it's just me & the kids in the car)

tesco club cards points, we used them last year with our shogun and 24ft van, took over £60 off the trip.

Fantastic idea! I've got loads of points but I didn't know you could use them for the ferry. You're a star!

Hi, Check out Red funnel and Wightlink websites they will give you ideas of prices and sailing times depending on where you are sailing from and to,

If i remember correctly to get prices and times enter your details as if you were booking dont worry nothing is booked till you press confirm on the last pages, we sailed earlier this year from southampton to east cowes and it was simple the ferry operators will guide you through,

Good luck and enjoy yourself.

Dunc

You can only use the vouchers on Wightlink. I'd make sure you check availability before you order your vouchers. We ended up going with Red Funnel last year as there were no ferries on the May half-term Saturday between 9-5, think everyone else with vouchers booked before us, that's said the Sunday should be quieter. If you end up going with Red Funnel there's a great playground right next to the dock.

Enjoy! We love the IOW.

Red Funnel are usually cheaper. We have only ever used Red Funnel (sailing from Southampton to Cowes) so can't really comment on Wightlink.

Check with the campsite if they can book the ferry for you as quite a few offer this service at no extra cost. We've stayed at Appuldurcombe and they will book the ferry for you and it works out a bit cheaper

I would imagine that as it's a Bank Hol and a double bank hol the prices will be hiked. However, we found that travelling on a Sunday was cheaper than Fridays and Saturdays.

If you compare the prices on the web sites for Wight link and Red funnel. Wight link are the cheaper of the two and have more offers. Can even book sailings from two different ports if you feel inclined to do so. The best campsite we have found on the island is Village way at Apse Heath.Who can combine the ferry and sight fees together.
