Hi Ellectrastar,
Have you tried walking/cycling the Rodwell Trail ? (The route of the old railway line.)
It has fabulous Coastal Scenery and is not too far from where you will be camping.
(assuming you have transport)
One end starts at Ferrybridge in Wyke Regis (The bridge before the long beach road to Isle of Portland) and is a straight and level route into Weymouth Town. Follow the route/cycle route further round and it leads onto the Swannery. There are several joining points along the 3 mile ish route so you don't have to walk the full length in one go. Watering hole/toilets at Old Sandsfoot Castle and gardens (free entry)
Another interesting scenic doggy circular walk that holiday makers might miss is around the Nothe Fort area and gardens which leads onto an old stone pier and back alongside the harbour.into Brewers Quay. (Free Parking at end of Bincleves Road, if interested ) Watering holes along this route.
Top of Portland has many quarry walks and a Sculpture Park, Try finding a rock stack called Nickodemus's Knob. (Take binoculars, plenty of view points.) also not forgetting Portland Bill and the 3 lighthouses and another rock stack 'Pulpit Rock.
