Hello,

We are off to Newquay on Monday for a week and the weather forecast does not look great!

Can anyone recommend anything to do indoors for the days when it is just too wet?!

We do intend on giving geocaching a whirl at some point!

Thanks in advance!

If you have kids Dairy Land is fab, farm park type place with a big indoor play area that the grown ups can play on too, ball pits and death slides etc your entrance ticket is good for a week too.

Thank you for your responses! I'm sure there will be plenty to do when we get there!

I don't mind going out in the rain, as my mum often tells me, I won't go rusty!!

eden is not so good its just full of plants and its not cheap.  a cheaper alternative is to take the kids to tesco's and walk up and down the fruit&veg aisle...

i think Newquay has a zoo..

Do you have kids? Oasis funpool is good, although it does get busy on rainy days! There's also an indoor pool (Waterworld) opposite the zoo near Trenance Gardens which is good too:) Aquarium is ok but quite expensive for what it is. When the tide's out get your waterproofs on and walk along all of the beaches (buy a bacon butty from Lusty Glaze beach...mmmm!) it's a beautiful walk even if the weather's not. If you start off at Lusty Glaze and end up on Towan beach, you can then have a wander through the shops in town - maybe stopping off for a light refreshment or two at The Fort 17. Have a wonderful time and tell my favourite place we'll be there in three weeks!

Don't go to the swimming pool in Newquay it is very costly and they have long queues . Go to Bodmin. Have a look in the museum . Or go on the train. Then go to the swimming pool there . It's very nice or hire badminton rackets and play for an hour.
Much cheaper than Newquay.
If its not too wet hire bikes at wadebridge and cycle to padstow.
Flambards is good but I am not sure about the cost.

For two years running I spent three weeks in Cornwall with young children and had rain most days. You can spend an absolute fortune trying to find indoor ways to pass the time or just accept that you'll get wet walking, rock pooling, swimming (obviously), discovering coves, climbing over rocks........children will prefer the later and so will your wallet.

The kids aren't coming with us so we don't need to worry about that. But it would be nice to visit some places to keep a bit dry!

Hi wire gal

How did your holiday go? We are off to trencreek on Wednesday 25th.

Is it a nice campsite? The reviews were good.

We know Cornwall reasonably well but there is a danger that you stick to what you know and don't try new things.

Anything/anywhere stand out for you?

Hiya,

It was great thank you, the weather wasnt too bad really! We didnt do an awful lot and didnt get the things we wanted to done.  We did a lot of geocaching though :)

We just stayed in the local area. I really wanted to go in the aquarium... until I saw it! We did Lands End... same as it was last time I went lol.

Although we have only been camping three times, Trencreek is our new favourite.  We need to write a review for it.  We have a large tent so we had a huge pitch, we were made up with the space, it was in the middle of the field but the tent is amazing.  The ducks are sooo cute, i really missed them when I got home. The pitches seemed to have quite a bit of space between them, but it wasnt very full when we went. Pitches were in excellent condition considering all the rain we had! We were on pitch 198.  Caravans look rammed in a bit.  The bar was massive and theres a family room with a pool table... there are lots of kids machine things to play on which i think could get expensive.. pool looked ok, but I wouldnt dip my toe in it... the shop always looked closed but they opened it for us at 11pm for some shuttlecocks so the staff are very friendly.  Close to morrisons, close to nequay. Cant comment on the food as it wasnt open for us.. the play area looked ok.  Toilets were clean and there was an area for hair drying... The shower block near the entrance is probably better as there is somewhere to keep your clothes dry.. you will understand this when you see them!

I wouldnt have liked a pitch near the entrance, they looked quite cramped but apart from that excellent.. unless you have a square number plate like i do as the camera cant read it so had to reverse in!!!

Have a great time..sorry ive waffled on a bit!

Hi,

Thanks for responding so quick.

I know that we are towards the back near the pool but otherwise no idea if we have a big pitch. Hope so as I want to put my coleman dome shelter thingy up!

Well I have a list as long as your arm of pubs, food places, beaches, and places to visit so maybe just as well you didnt add to that

Had to google what geocatching is

The staff were that friendly Im sure if the pitch is too small for your shelter they will move you! :)

Haha well there are that many beaches around there and everyone likes different things.  We did find a handy reasonably priced car park at Fistral beach though.  If you have Facebook, Fistral Beach and Newquay keep putting pics up.. its making me sad im not there!

Geocaching is good fun, breaks up the walking a bit! In fact.. I can suggest a good "cache" at watergate bay and its got one of my travel bugs in it! lol

Have a lovely time.. Id be interested in your view on the site :)

And another thought... Listen out for the Lion roaring in the middle of the night! Kept me awake for several nights, especially when it sounded like he was at the duck pond!!
