Still think you should just buy a cheap one n use it you can always up grade if your going to get serious! We have had cheap bikes for years done Dalby loads, Clumber park, Berwick, Sherwood etc etc... bit of maintenance at the start of each camping season and off we go again. If you have a 3 year old with you your not really going off the tracks for a while or doing anything too strenuous!
Hi all!
Well I finally got a bike in the sales over Christmas! It's a raleigh town and trail 15inch frame, and I love it.
So for my next problem which I require your expert advice....
I borrowed a 'bones 2' car rack to take the bikes somewhere flatter for a ride, and my frame doesn't fit it being a ladies 15inch frame :-( So can anyone recommend a more suitable rack? I'm sure I've seen childrens bikes on them, so they must exist! My cars a fiesta if it matters.
My Maxxraxx needs false crossbars to fit the kids mountain bikes on as they don't have normal crossbars. I hate using them and don't trust them, I end up with chains and string wrapped round the frames just in case they don't hold as you're only relying on the bike seat not dropping off. If you can get a carrier that doesn't need to use one would be better.
I bought my Raleigh MTB from Halfords about 8 years ago and it is still going strong. Alloy with 21 shimano gears. All I have replaced is the pedals to SPDs and covered some black parts with pink tape (see my avatar). You can pick up some good deals in there if you know what you are looking for. No point in spending £100s then deciding it is not for you. Problem with second hand bikes are the parts which might need replaced, you can spend as much on parts as you would on a new bike in a deal.
