Had visitors staying last weekend so took them for a day out to Blackpool.

Last summer we stayed on a campsite at Knott End and went to Fleetwood on the foot ferry.

So last Saturday, as we wanted to visit Fleetwood Market, which is a large traditional market, we parked at Freeport Shopping which is free, and walked across to the market and town centre.
After the market and fish and chip lunch, we caught one of the new trams just outside, they run approx every 15 mins. Each tram has 1 or 2 conductors who you pay, though you can also buy tickets from Paypoint shops, I think these are a bit cheaper.
However, if you have a seniors bus pass, you can travel for free, otherwise there is a Day Saver available for around £4.
The trams terminate at Fleetwood ferry, so if you have travelled on it, you can continue by tram into Blackpool.
The ride to North Pier for the Tower is about 30 mins, part of it is alongside the sea

We were very impressed by the new trams, they feel spacious, and are comfortable. And being able to use a free bus pass is great, not like Manchester's where you can only use a bus pass if you live in the locality.

Note (for next autumn!) though, that there are, understandably, some restrictions during the Illuminations.

I was going to take the OH for a couple of days in the next week, but the Legends Show has been cancelled, dammit!
We'll have to go at Easter when the hoards arrive.
Good news about the trams, though. The 0930 tram will be packed to the rafters with owd giffers like me!

Goodbye tension, hello Pension!

we went during the summer and TBH didn't think the new tram service was up to much.
IMO the frequent serviced stopped far to early, leaving people trying to cram on the 1/2 hourly trams. we didn't have the kids with us on this occasion, thank goodness.
twice in succsession, twice in one day we had to wait an hour for the tram, as the ones that arrived were too full and wouldn't stop.
We then got on one to go up to fleetwood during the frequent time, only to get part way to be told the driver had run out of hours, so was terminating there (cant remember just where it was)

And don't get me started on blackpools bus service...

Been to Blackpool this weekend and noticed the big wheel has gone from central pier, does this happen every year?
