We were in a garden centre today, and in their book section I found I Spy books! What a blast from the past! I remember those from when I was young, but I haven't seen them in years.
My children are 3 and 6 so I bought two to see if they were interested.
Since my six year old daughter came home from school she has been totally engrossed! Never before has my neighbours garage seemed so interesting - " I get ten points for that!"
But she's gutted that the builders dug up our wildflower garden today otherwise she could have got about a million points for field scabious and other random flowers,
We have done better than expected in the 'Weeds' section though, getting ten points for a giant thistle that I've been too scared to tackle because its about as tall as I am!
I might go back and buy the motorway book and the seaside one for our holidays.
Good old fashioned fun, and not an iPad in sight! Glorious!
I have several of these books for my boys ready for our summer holidays! I have got: camping on a car journey on the motorway classic cars cars car badges

I remember on a very long journey through France with four young kids (2-7 years) getting the France 'I Spy' book (and there may have been a motorway one too) and scanning the pictures, sticking 16 of them in a random 4x4 array on a piece of card, covering with sticky-backed plastic, and then giving the kids one board each with a white-board marker to play "I Spy bingo".
This was in the days before two year old were expected to have their own tablet computers, of course!
Hi
I got a few about 4 years ago and photo copied them at work!!!! we do them every year when ever we go away, and dont have to buy new ones each time :-)
We've got a few. When you finish five you can send off for a badge. I'm going to get a couple for DS for stocking fillers.
Didn't realise there was a camping one. Think I'll save it for his birthday next year otherwise he'll be nagging me to go camping all over winter.
Had a brainwave today. I'm going to photocopy and enlarge the index page so we can carry it with us all the time, which will be useful for the vehicle ones.
