Hiya

We're going to do a tour of Scotland next year. We will definitely calling at Luss (Caravan and camping club site) on the shores of Loch Lomond. We had a quick nosy around it a few years ago whilst in the area. It looked a beautiful site. You could pitch up close to the Loch if you wanted to. we want to cycle in the area before heading north!

Others on our list are Glen Coe, Tarland by Deeside & Scone back down lol

Enjoy!

Along the east coast, many sites that have views of the sea are also taken up with statics. Less so on the west coast, don't know why. I use the website's map search with my chosen criteria ticked (we need loos and showers, you may be self-sufficient) and then check recent reviews - Luss, for example, is pretty but gets road noise and midges and Scone is nowhere near water or mountains....  Sounds like Sarahsop is a CCC member - Dunbar, Culzean and Fortrose & Rosemarkie CCC sites are the few CCC sites with sea views. But there are loads of excellent sites which aren't CCC and have views of water of some sort. My favourites with water views, for what it's worth, would be Solway View (near Kirkcudbright), Sandyhills (between Dalbeattie & Dumfries), Machrihanish (near Campbeltown), and Carradale in Kintyre (expensive if you're not CC);  And I love the old sites at the back of the beach that you find up the NW, where you forgive the facilities because the views of islands, mountains and sunsets are so stunning (like Gruinard Bay in Wester Ross, or those in the Mallaig area that are famed for their shell sand beaches and turquoise waters). Ferries are expensive, we rarely use them. We rarely book more than one night ahead, usually we look at the scenery and the sky, and decide whether to stay or move on, and in which direction. We've found ourselves in entirely unexpected places that way. Our Scottish weather varies so much, if it's rotten - move on. If it's gorgeous - stay put. If the midges are fierce, spray on Skin So Soft hourly.

I stayed at the Luss site at the beginning of June and can recommend it. Well laid out with several sets of wooden steps at intervals leading down to the lochside beaches, and only five minutes walk from the village. The only problem for some campers may be the road noise as the site is right next to the busy A82 but if you can get over that then it's a good site.

If you want a site with peace and quiet and views to die for then try Invercaimbe at Arisaig on the coast. The end of the site comes right down on to the beach and the views are fab, I loved the place and didn't want to leave.

Another vote for the west coast of Kintyre here...Stayed on most of the sites down there....Just back from a week at Port Ban...A bit out of the way(14 miles down a single track road) But beautiful scenery everywhere you look...

Mallaig/Arisaig area is on my to do list as well...

Jelboy.
