I went for a Hike along the North Cheshire Way .Lovely sunny day Balmy 18C . Made my way out of the Urban area of Handforth village across the fields To Woodford around the old Aerodrome .

Spotted the old White Vulcan bomber parked by the delapdated Aircraft hangers . Like scenes from the Cold War .It had an eerie feeling about the place .

 After about 4 miles picked up the NCW trail near the grounds of Adlington Hall ,crossed over the River Dean to open fields followed the path to Top O' th' Hill farm which was deserted. Then down the valley to the Bollin river ,crossing the old single wooden bridge ,bypassed the Bollin Valley Way trail .

Through a woods Into Motttram Hall grounds and across the golf course . Stopped for lunch , and watched the golfers . Out of the lanes to cross the busy A538 and down Into the valley of Greendale and crossed a field of maze was getting disorentated until I seen a sign saying "Beware of Death" , I soon found the way out quickly followed the trail  to Mottram St Andrews village . And Into open meadowland , the path then took me uphill to the back of Alderley Edge National trust and the Wizard with beautiful views across the Cheshire plains , with many tracks and trails criss crossing . Eventually came down from the hilly trails and through fields across the Hough and crossed the lanes . Made my way to Alderley Edge station . To get the train home ( 2 stops and 6 mins to Handforth )sat In luxuary ,and a well earned rest after a lovely 15 milers just on my doorstep .

 Yes heath63.  It was a lovely walk/hike .

The NCW Is very near me . As I checked It out on a Landranger map . The NCW starts near you . So you could do parts of It .

 Also dont be despondant about your fitness . Dont let the word , (USE TO )   stop you :

As I'm much older than you , I walk /hike to keep me fit ,also to get out and see our lovely countryside .

 Looks like I've got a very good tread going here.

Hello PH  . I've looked at your walk on the NCW again . It was brilliant . As I have only walked part of It as I live close by .  Your hike surpassed It as you did all of It . Great pictures as well as the walk hike description . Excellant .

As I have not got any photos of the Vulcan . This looks like the one I seen . On the Blog , Anonymous from Handforth made a comment about NOT TO dismantle the Aircraft . No Its not me . But It was very sad that they closed Woodford Aerodrome down .

As you live In the Cheshire area .

You can pick up the NCW  trail, off the layby on the river Dean bridge before Adlington Hall . And head across to Mottram Hall near the Bollin Valley way . Or If you live near Wilmslow . You can go along Hough lane towards the Hough and join It there . Although this Is the hilly steep bit upto Alderley edge .
