Hi, what we do with two golden retrievers is google dog friendly pubs in the area we are visiting, and then ring the pub before we travel to make sure they still allow dogs. most do, as long as in the bar area. Our dogs are part of our family and so we enjoy taking them (they are large but very well behaved) to the places we go to.
According to the link below the Duke of York at Pomeroy, which is a 5 minute drive from Clover Fields, allow dogs in what they call the Top Bar

We've only eaten in the restaurant next to the Bottom Bar but can't see why they wouldn't do food in the Top Bar - might be worth giving them a ring if you want to be 100% sure
Thinking about it we've also eaten at the
Bull I' Th' Thorn which is about 6 mins drive from Clover Fields

Can't see that they accept dogs according to their website but they do have their own large, and rather old, lab which wanders between the various rooms and generally lays down wherever it likes
