Hello,

At the risk of sounding antisocial, may I ask if anyone knows of a self-catering private cottage with fishing lake for exclusive use if staying in the property? ideally in East Anglia.

I just want to find somewhere to teach my little boy fishing without the day-to-day distractions.

Thanks for your time :)

Cole

i think a google search for some fishing forums might be in need.

ive never heard of anything like what your looking for

a few sites have pods and boties with fishing on site.

but not exclusive rights to the pond/lake

Hi
From my experience when teaching my son(4yrs old), its the type of water you fish that is important, when young they need lots of activity to maintain there attention span, the size of the fish caught does not really matter.

I realise however this may be at odds with the fishing you prefer.

I started by taking son for a couple of hours a time and did not fish myself. Was not long before I couldn't get out fishing without him you have been warned !

There are a few fishing holidays listed in angling mags and papers which although not exclusive use can be quite comfy with modern villas and up to 16 lakes to fish...So you never feel crowded or hemmed in by other anglers..

Anglers Paradise in Devon being one such place...

Think you would pay top dollar for the exclusive/secluded use of a place like the one you seek...And you will find them fully booked well in advance for months if not years ahead....

Jelboy.

Have you tried any camp sites which are specifically for fishing rather than ordinary camp sites with just a fishing pond? I've camped at several fishing sites over the last few years and they are all very quiet with no day-to-day distractions - no club, no playground, and the only campers there are those who fish.

I've never heard of anywhere where you could have exclusive use, and if there was somewhere it would be very expensive, however if you don't mind going into north east Lincolnshire these two might suit -

Pigeon Cottage at North Somercoates village, a small quiet site with two fishing lakes and B & B

Willow Lakes a couple of miles from Waltham village - a terrace of self catering cottages right next to a small fishing lake and log cabin-style self catering cottages next to a much larger lake.

Look at Sykes Holiday Cottages; in particular their fishing holiday cottages. I found: The Granary, Hingham near Wymondham, East Anglia     (Ref. 914208) which might be just what you are looking for. Go to http://www.sykescottages.co.uk/cottage/Norfolk-Frost-Row/The-Granary--914208.html
Good luck.

there are plenty of campsites with own lakes around that area, try googling them if they are not showing on this site.
i have definitely seen one that was a farm house or manor and on its grounds had a cottage to rent but for the price you might be better just renting a static for a couple of nights on a site that has its own waters. some have wooden huts for rent that might be pretty cool for a young kid to stay in, they are usually full electric and have cooking appliances etc installed so although not a private cottage its not like you would be roughimg it too much.
