If you have the OS CD's, you can buy waterproof map paper to print your route on.
Which CDs are these? Is it the Memory Map software? If so I can't see an economic advantage to it and, call me old-fashioned, I am partial to navigating as opposed to following a pre-drawn route on a map. Part of the challenge.
memory map is just the software its the fact that its ideal as you can download and buy individual Explorer and landranger maps and print them as well as put them on phones, tablets and laptops.
some people/companies use them to track their own routes to keep a record of them, but you dont have to.
bernie before i buy some of that paper can you answer me a few questions please
how durable is it ?
how flexible is it, is it easy to fold up into quarters ?
cheers

I just use Memory Map 1:25000 and print out at a larger scale and keep it in a waterproof case. rarely need it as I prefer to use Memory Map on my phone.
If I buy a new map now I always buy the active map if available. Much easier to use in the rain but then I don't like the map dangling from around my neck
If you use a map regular or have one with you like us the lamfold Os active maps are more cost effective. We bought one for our holiday cottage. Should last years if know one looses it
I prefer Waterproof maps as they are easier to mark up than a map case and a bit of nail polish remover helps wipe off the markings when you've finished.
